Workplace safety in a mining plant depends on many factors, but one of the most critical is the reliability of ventilation systems. As part of a multi stage modernization of the main fan station at shaft L V in ZG Lubin, MWM Elektro Sp. z o.o. is implementing advanced technological solutions.

A key element of this investment is the installation of frequency converter cabinets. They enable smooth and, most importantly, stable control of the fan station operation. This implementation directly improves the safety of underground crews and ensures continuity of mining processes.

The challenge of extreme operating conditions

When designing the system, we had to take changing atmospheric conditions into account. To guarantee failure free operation also during peak summer periods, the installed converters were designed with increased thermal tolerance. These devices maintain full operational stability even at ambient temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius.

Currently, we are installing two units with a capacity of 1250 kW each, powered directly from a 6 kV medium voltage network.

Comprehensive scope of work

  • Our activities at ZG Lubin go far beyond equipment delivery. The project includes:
  • Integration of frequency converters with the existing 6 kV power supply system.
  • Full adaptation of control systems and industrial automation.
  • Modernization of measurement and diagnostic systems, as well as visualization systems such as SCADA.
  • Adaptation of infrastructure to the latest requirements for physical security and cybersecurity.

This is another long term project carried out by MWM Elektro Sp. z o.o. , which is the standard approach for facilities of such strategic importance to the mining industry.
